Malaysia Boleh!

Hey guys,

Another blog update in a span of two days...I'm on a roll! This post title can be translated into "Malaysia Can!" You hear this expression all the time during Merdeka or National Day in Malaysia. Its on August 31st of every year and celebrates Malaysia's independence from the United Kingdom.
This time I have photos! I do apologize for making you guys read more than three sentences of words in my last post.

This is downtown Johor Bahru, Malaysia. I used to live here when I was younger. This picture shows some of the recent construction that the city has undergone to open up a new causeway that connects Northern Singapore to Malaysia. After I took this picture I realized I was going the completely wrong way to this shopping mall I had to go to meet up with a family friend. Its crazy how much can change in two years!

This is the new immigration building in Malaysia. This building was so huge and so circuitous that it felt like I was undertaking the Moses trek to get to the other side.

After you finish your meal on a banana leaf, you fold it up! Katharine and I had lunch with a family friend at this restaurant called Kerala. It is very famous and is pretty much an institution in Johor Bahru (JB).

We then went to Danga Bay. Danga Bay is this large waterfront walkway with restaurants and shops located on a body of water separating Malaysia and Singapore called the Johor Straits.

The Johor Straits from Danga Bay.

That was my Johor Bahru trip! We did not spend a long time there but it was nice to be back. I am even thinking about going back there again for Chinese New Year. We will see. That's all for now, but 'til next time!

Best,

Kavanaugh
