So I have officially been in Singapore for two days now!! I have to admit it is great to be back. I am now staying in temporary housing in this area called Geylang. I will eventually get around to taking pictures of my temporary apartment, but trust me when I say that I am definitely not living in the Ritz Carlton!
Here are some photos of what I did on my first day back:
We had lunch at Katong Laksa, which is a very famous laksa place in the Eastern region of Singapore. Laksa is a very authentically Singaporean dish that comprises of short rice noodles and a coconut, curry broth. They also add seafood in it such as shrimp. It was pretty delicious, not going to lie. This restaurant claims that it created the most "authentic" laksa, but the restaurant across the street from it claims the same thing as well. I have lost sleep over this agonizing ordeal on how to determine which restaurant indeed created the most authentic laksa.
This is what the dish looks like. And of course the meal is not complete without a coconut drink.
This is a photo of me lampin near the Singapore River.
The Singapore River was very integral to the country's history and developmet. The Parliament building is also located near the river as well. In this photo though, I am specifically in an area called Clark Quay. It is a very trendy hang out spot with lot's of restaurants and bars.
Boats on the river! Woah!
This was the bridge that changed colors. It distracted/mesmerized me quite a bit during dinner.
Here I am eating chili crab at the Jumbo Seafood Restaurant in Clark Quay. Yes, I am wearing a bib.
The three other grorgeous ladies are some of my very good friends from high school. From the left: Julia, Rhoda and Simi. We were at this new bar in Clark Quay called Aqua. The bar had this aquatic, boat-esque theme to it. It was fairly classy. The gin tonic was good at least.
That's all for now. There will definitely be more to come. Tomorrow will probably not be as exciting as the first day because I need to get a lot of shopping done for my dorm and go to the bank. I will be going to the UOB bank at Raffles place (downtown Singapore) which is quite a chic area if I may add.
Let me know how things are going!
Til next time,
Kavanaugh
